Taking a cue from the book Marketing Today’s Academic Library the marketing committee developed three campaigns to correspond to the needs of undergraduates as they advance through the semester. At the beginning of the semester we advertised the Media Library’s collection of DVDs, periodicals, and browsing collection. A poster was developed, exhibits were featured, and films were played on the TV in the learning commons.
This month, mid-semester, we’re marketing the many ways that students can get one-on-one help in the library. We wanted our delivery method to be individual, so not a poster or broad marketing device. We also wanted the tone to be light and friendly. So we decided to go with trading cards. Beth Veglahn over at UITS designed these fun cards for us. There are three images of students with text on the back with various ways they can get help.
So far we’ve heard positive feedback from students. Our biggest challenge is getting our staff to remember to hand them out!
